According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports, former Sixers general manager Tony DiLeo has been hired by the Washington Wizards to serve in a scouting capacity.

DiLeo had been in the Sixers basketball operations department since 1990, serving many capacities, eventually landing as the director of player personnel in 1999.   He was promoted to assistant general manager in 2003, then eventually to general manager in the summer of 2012.  His contract expired with the club last summer and he was not brought back.

DiLeo also served as an interim head coach during the 2008-2009 season, where he went 32-27, taking over after Maurice Cheeks was fired after a 9-14 start to the season.  The Sixers ended the season 41-41 and lost in 6 games to the Orlando Magic in the first round of the playoffs.

That was DiLeo’s only head coaching position in the NBA, although he did coach for many years over in Germany in the 1980’s before joining the Sixers organization.

His son, T.J. DiLeo, was a reserve on Temple University’s basketball team and signed on to play with the Giessen 46’ers in Germany.
