Welcome back to your daily Sixers draft pick tracker.

We’ll start off with a table at the top summarizing the status of the three picks, then we’ll list out last night’s games and whether their results were good or bad for the Sixers draft pick positioning, and follow that up with tonight’s games and who you should root for. Finally, we’ll have some tables at the bottom providing some additional details on the various draft picks, including the odds that the Lakers pick conveys at each position.

(In parenthesis will be whether the outcome is good or bad for that pick, if it happened last night, and who to cheer for if the game takes place tonight).

2017 Draft Pick Tracker – Summary

Pick Place GB (from 2nd) Games Left Notes
Lakers 2nd 17 44.2% chance at conveying
Sixers 4th 3.5 18 119 lottery combinations
Kings 7th 5.5 18 43 lottery combinations

Last night’s results:

  • Lakers beat the Suns (bad/good): I’m more interested in the Suns passing the Sixers/Kings than the Lakers passing the Suns, so I’m marking this down as bad. However, if the Suns fail to do that then the Lakers catching the Suns would be a positive, so a Lakers win last night has its share of benefits, too.
  • Sixers lost to the Blazers in OT (good): The Sixers loss, their 3rd in a row, drops them to a half a game behind the Magic and keeps them 2.5 up on the Suns. The Lakers win and Sixers loss also means the Sixers are just 3.5 up on the Lakers, but with LA’s incredible incentive to tank and horrible defense, I’m not sure I see them having 4 wins left in them.

Tonight’s games:

  • Orlando @ Charlotte (go Orlando): An Orlando win would pull them a full game up on the Sixers.
  • Brooklyn @ Dallas (go Dallas): Dallas is now 2.5 games up on Sacramento, and the Kings catching them seems unlikely. Still, another win wouldn’t hurt. There’s no chance of Brooklyn catching the Lakers, so cheer without conflict.
  • Golden State @ Minnesota (go Minnesota): Minnesota’s 1.5 up on Sacramento and playing good basketball of late. Again, seems safe, but another win to pull them farther away wouldn’t hurt.
  • Washington @ Sacramento (go Washington):  Washington’s 7-3 in their last 10 and playing some of the best basketball in the league. Unless they rest everyone, should be another L for the Kings, which would be their 7th straight defeat.

Current combined odds for Sixers/Kings pick swap:

  • #1 pick: 16.2%
  • Top-3 pick: 49.0%

So complicated. But fascinating to imagine. I feel like they are due for some draft luck.
