Morning Sixers – Thursday, March 23rd, 2017

This morning I knocked out a couple of quick mailbag questions, such as:

“If the Sixers get lucky and land 2 top 6 picks this year and end up with some combination of Malik Monk, Lonzo Ball, & Dennis Smith. Do you see them rolling into the season with both top picks, or flipping 1(and other assets) for a top tier vet?”

“At what point does the concept of “fit” begin to weigh more heavily in the Sixers calculus? I realize that situationally each draft (and set of players) is unique, but I have to imagine at some point the Sixers will take some slots moving forward as givens.”

“As far as stretch 4’s go. What are your thoughts on Dario’s shooting? He’s shooting 31% on 400+ attempts outside of 16 feet. I looked at a number of other stretch-4’s (Turkoglu, Frye, Rashard, Ryan Anderson, Dunleavy, Ilyasova) and even in their rookie year, they all shot 35-40% from 16+ feet. In 6 seasons of pro ball, Dario’s only had 1 season where he shot well from outside. Obviously, he’s much more attractive next to Embiid if he shoots 35+% from range.

Is Dario going to be a shooter? Or is he going to be more of a Draymond type – he CAN hit the outside shot (33% career from 16+ feet), but is more of an interior player/passer?”

“Hey Derek, do you think the Sixers will make another strong run at PG this summer? Would you still go for it, assuming it meant giving up our 1st, the unprotected Kings first, Covington, and let’s say Jah? That price seems pretty steep, especially with the rumors of his preference for landing on the Lakers.”
