“Is Markelle Fultz and D’Angelo Russell a valid comparison? Have we missed this comparison because Fultz is right-handed and D’Angelo is left-handed? Or is this comparison weak and is Fultz just a far superior prospect?”

— Steve

(Steve also provided the following per 100 possession stats):

**********************************************

Fultz: 35.7 pts, 8.8 Rebs, 9.1 asts, 2.4 steals, 1.8 blocks, 4.9 TOs, 47.6% FG, 41.3% from 3 and 64.9% FT, 9.1 BPM, .172 WS/40…

6’ 5” with a 6’10” wingspan

Russell: 34.4 pts, 10.1 Rebs, 8.9 asts, 2.8 steals, .6 blocks, 5.2 TOs, 44.9% FG, 41.1% from 3 and 75.6% FT, 11.7 BPM, .229 WS/40…

I wouldn’t say the comparison’s been missed. In fact, I’ve heard it quite a few times before. There are some similarities in the way they play, from the shooting to the pick and roll play, demeanor, and even some facial features.

Here’s where I think the comparison breaks down.
