Sixers work out Josh Richardson (Tennessee) and Vince Hunter (UTEP)

The Philadelphia 76ers have reportedly worked out Josh Richardson, a senior shooting guard out of Tennessee, and Vince Hunter, a sophomore small forward from UTEP.

I have reached out to representatives with both the Sixers and BDA Sports, who represents both Hunter and Richardson, to try to verify the workout. Based on how the Sixers have conducted workouts in the previous two seasons under Sam Hinkie, information about Sixers workouts is unlikely to be released by the team.

Richardson is a quick shooting guard who can create offense out of pick and rolls, and his jumper has improved over the years, up to a career-best 35.9% from three point range on 128 attempts this past season, and he has turned himself into a somewhat reliable catch-and-shoot player. He’s incredibly thin, but his quickness and length give him some potential on the defensive side of the court.

Hunter is an elite athlete, standing 6’8″, with a developing upper-body, quick feet, and explosive leaping ability.

Perhaps Hunter’s greatest attribute on the offensive end, besides getting out in transition, is his ability to get to the free throw line, as Hunter had a 59.5% free throw rate during his sophomore season at UTEP. His biggest question mark is his jump shot, as he shot only 60% from the free throw line and attempted only 10 three pointers on the year, but he’s the type of athletic, hard working, defensive-minded wing that the Sixers tend to crave, especially for value picks in the 2nd round or when signing undrafted free agents.

Both Richardson and Hunter are options for the Sixers in the 2nd round.
